SHARON R. LENHART, age 68,
of Jackson Center, died peacefully after a long battle with her health on April 9, 2026, at 7:48 P.M. at the Elmwood Assisted Living of New Bremen. She was born on October 28, 1957, in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Eugene E. and Ethel M. (Howell) Kettler. On June 9, 1985, she married John R. Lenhart, and together they shared over 40 wonderful years together. John survives near Jackson Center. Also surviving are her daughter, Rebecca Lenhart of Jackson Center, and John’s children: Shawn (Amanda) Lenhart of New Albany, and Amy (Brent) Wallace of Hilliard; five grandchildren; and her siblings: Steven (Julie) Kettler of Botkins, David (Julia) Kettler of Kettlersville, and Marianne (Phil) Snider of Botkins. Along with her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy E. Lenhart.
Sharon was a 1976 graduate of Anna High School. She was a life-long member of Immanuel Church in Kettlersville where she had always been an active and devoted member, engaged in various church activities and was part of the women’s guild of the church, serving as treasurer of the group. She had dedicated 35 years of her career to serving as a bank teller at various banks in Sidney before her retirement in 2014. Sharon also had a deeply rooted connection to the family farm, where she took an active role in the field, drove equipment, and was the bookkeeper. Her love of family was evident in everything she did, from her years in 4-H to the special moments spent at the family cottage at Lake Loramie, where laughter and love always filled the air. She was a fantastic cook, and she also enjoyed sewing and especially loved nurturing her many flower gardens. She and John also enjoyed traveling to every state in the U.S. and traveled extensively across Ohio for various sheriff meetings and events. Sharon leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and commitment to community that will not be forgotten.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at the Immanuel Church in Kettlersville, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon, followed by a memorial service beginning at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Dr. Sylvia Hull and Pastor Leslie Krieg officiating. Private family inurnment will take place in the Jackson View Cemetery of Jackson Center at a later date.
