ROSALIA M. "ROSIE" LARGER, age 92,
Formerly of Kettlersville, and more recently of Sidney, died on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 1:17 P.M. at the Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney. She was born on February 6, 1934, near St. Peter, Ohio, the daughter of the late August L. and Theresia M. (Wendel) Beumer. On October 15, 1955, she married Leroy U. Larger, and together they shared more than 70 wonderful years building a life of love, faith, and family. Leroy survives near Sidney. Also surviving are her children: Mary Beth (Kevin) Homan of McCartyville, August (Bonnie) Larger of Indian Lake, Martha (Greg) Koenig of Botkins, Bernard (Katherine) Larger of New Bremen, Frank (Rosie) Larger of Wapakoneta, John (Linda) Larger of Greenwood, South Carolina, and William (Carrie) Larger of Kapolei, Hawaii. Also left to cherish her memory are her twenty-two grandchildren, sixty-three great-grandchildren, and her siblings: Sister Marita Beumer C.PP.S., Irene Rose, Juanita Klosterman, Ruth (Ralph) Pleiman, Rita (Carl) Pleiman, and her sister in-laws Ruth Mary Larger, and Ruth Ann Larger.
In addition to her parents, Rosie was preceded in death by a grandson, her siblings: Alvin (Linda) Beumer, Arnold (Jean) Beumer, and Richard Beumer, as well as her in-laws, Fred Rose, Leonard Klosterman; her father and mother in-law, Martin and Elizabeth (Arling) Larger, and her Larger in-laws: Ann (Norbert) DeLoye, Urban (Mary) Larger, Catherine (Orva) Davis, Richard Larger, Arthur Larger, Irene Larger, Robert (Phyllis) Larger, Orville Larger, Martha (Dorvan) Phlipot, Eugene Larger, Betty (Melvin) Puthoff, Vernon Larger, Nelson (Virginia) Larger, and Marilyn (Roger) Monnin.
Rosie truly lived a full life. She had attended Coldwater and Fort Recovery schools, and went on to complete her LPN training at the Springfield Hospital. She would spend the rest of her career tenderly caring for others through various area nursing homes. She was a long-time and dedicated member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in McCartyville where she worked in the Parish office, was a Eucharistic Minister, taught CCD, was an RCIA instructor, was part of the Alter Rosary Sodality, the funeral luncheon committee, an active part of the Mission Commission, and assisted with the cemetery organization. Rosie and Leroy were also graduates of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Lay Pastoral Ministry Program. She also served as the band officer and was a PTA advisor, and she and Leroy also opened their home as host parents to several foreign exchange students when her children were in school. Rosie loved her family, and enjoyed hosting family gatherings for any occasion as an excuse to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also truly cherished her friendships with her sisters and enjoyed their monthly meetings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 12, 2026, at 10:30 A.M. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in McCartyville, with Rev. Fr. Stephen Mondiek officiating. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026 from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, and again on Monday, from 9:00 until 10:00 A.M., AT THE CHURCH. Memorial contributions in Rosie's memory can be made to the American Red Cross, or to Sacred Heart Church in support of their sister parish in Booneville, KY. The Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home of New Bremen is assisting the Larger family during this time, and online condolences and memories may be shared with the family on the funeral home website at www.gilberghartwigfh.com.
