H. Daniel Chamberlin

HARVEY D. "DAN" CHAMBERLIN, age 96,

of St. Marys, passed away peacefully at 9:10 P.M. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at the Otterbein Senior Lifestyles Community in St. Marys, after a period of declining health. He was born on July 23, 1930 in Kenton, Ohio, the son of the late Elmer J. and Jessie M. (Felty-Lick) Chamberlin. On December 15, 1956 he married Peggy E. Toth and together they shared over 55 wonderful years together before her death on October 26, 2012. Dan is survived by his children: Kirk Chamberlin of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Lisa Finkenbine (Kevin Bell) of St. Marys; his grandchildren: Charisa Todd, Jay Todd, Bryce Finkenbine (Siham Wiltshire), his great-grandchildren: Dane Herman, Myron Parke IV, Finley Finkenbine, and Grame Wiltshire, and his brother Lewis Chamberlin of Dewey, Arizona. Along with his parents and his wife, Dan was also preceded in death by his brothers: Paul Chamberlin and Joe Neil. 

Dan had attended elementary school in Kenton, Ohio, middle school and high school in South Bend, Indiana, and was a 1948 graduate of Bremen High School in Indiana. After high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1951-1953 in the 3rd Armored Calvary Regiment. After his service, he went on to further his education at the Ohio State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1955. He had worked for the WTVN Television in Columbus, Ohio, WSBT Television in South Bend, Indiana, the Studebaker Corporation, the Lincoln Mercury division of Ford Motor Company, the Airstream Corporation where he was the director of sales, and finally retired as the owner/operator of three automotive parts stores in Sidney, Wapakoneta, and Minster, Ohio. Dan had been an active member of St. Paul's U.C.C. in Sidney and later at St. Paul U.C.C. in New Bremen. He had been a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity, SME International Business Organization, the Piqua Country Club where he served as an officer and vice president, the Vineyards Country Club in Naples, FL, The Plantation Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, and the Sidney Epicurean Society. He and Peggy loved to travel and dance and work the PGA golf events. Dan also enjoyed volunteering his time with the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL, the World of Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine, FL, Meals on Wheels in Jacksonville, FL, and Otterbein St. Marys as the shuttle driver. 

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 12:00 Noon at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, officiated by Rev. David Voll. Calling hours will be held prior to the services on Thursday August 6, 2026 from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Dan be made to Otterbein Hospice, Wilson Memorial Hospital, or to the Grand Lake Hospice.
